Experience - · 10+ years of experience in steel plant operations, preferably in Sponge Iron plant 05+ years of leadership role

Qualification - Bachelors in Mechanical, Chemical, or Production Engineering from a reputable institute.

Master’s degree in similar field preferred

Certifications in operational excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, etc.) desirable

**Job responsibility**

Responsible for planning, overseeing, and reporting all daily operations, maintenance, and other activities of the Sponge Iron Unit (SIU) and associated Raw Material Processing (RMP) unit.

The individual must ensure smooth plant operations and must have a deep understanding of Sponge Iron Unit planning, operations, and maintenance.

Manage all the workstreams of the entire SIU covering the operations and maintenance activities of both kilns, and of the RMP unit to ensure optimal efficiency, productivity, and profitability

**Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards**

**Monitor both kilns and RMP unit, and overall plant performance and guide relevant functional heads with identifying and implementing improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability**

Manage and lead a team of managers, engineers, technicians, and operators to ensure all activities are performed safely and effectively

Lead the development and implementation of various operational and technical systems and processes to monitor, record, and control the consumption of raw material energy and other resources

Monitor and validate the quality tests performed for all SIU & RMP units’ raw materials and accordingly plan for the consumption of the same.

Monitor the quality tests performed for all finished goods and ensure adherence with the production plan.

Ensure that the entire workforce of SIU & RMP unit is trained, equipped, and supervised appropriately to carry out their duties effectively

Conduct daily visits across the plant to observe, validate, and rectify process deviances and abnormalities.

Liaise with various departments to develop periodic maintenance schedules for all work areas, machinery, and equipment within the SIU & RMP unit to ensure minimum breakdown events.

Oversee the implementation of the periodic maintenance schedules for all the work areas, machinery, and equipment of the SIU & RMP unit and ensure all activities are performed as per departmental SOPs and procedures, and appropriately documented fore reporting.

Oversee development, implementation, and safe execution of all planned shutdown activities for the work areas, machinery, and equipment of the SIU & RMP unit.

Ensure all maintenance workmen adhere to the company and departmental safety guidance and wear appropriate PPE.

Work closely with the Operation Excellence team as well as the PM-CBM team to ensure that all the maintenance activities are being completed as per SOPs and on time to reduce downtime and breakdown events.

Liaise with relevant departments to plan and manage budgets for the SIU operations and maintenance activities, as well as for optimal coordination of activities and effective communication across the organization

Oversee the implementation of periodic skills and knowledge development training programs across the SIU team and provide relevant support as required

Oversee the maintenance of accurate records of plant operations, quality tests, and maintenance activities.

Validate the plant operations and maintenance data sets at daily review meetings and to establish adherence to production plan, identify deviances, assess root causes of the same, and develop action plans to eliminate/resolve the same.

Prepare and present the plant operations and maintenance data sets at the regular CRM, MAT and SCM events and justify the deviances with appropriate support from subdepartment heads.

Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that all employees are trained in safety protocols and that all equipment is properly maintained.

Perform any additional tasks as requested by top management.
